 Welcome to the Catholic Choral Society of Scranton Web Portal

    

     The Catholic Choral Society will begin its  75th year on Tuesday, September 5th, with rehearsals on Tuesday evenings at the IHM Center at Marywood University. The group, composed of members from Luzerne,  Lackawanna, Wayne, Susquehanna and Wyoming  counties, performs sacred, classical, and secular music at performances in both Luzerne and Lackawanna counties. New members are welcome and no auditions are required.

     The group’s first concert is the annual November Generations Concert  when the Catholic Choral Society hosts and features regional choral groups from elementary school through college at St. Peter’s Cathedral. Additional musical programs are planned for the Advent, Christmas and Lenten and spring seasons.

     Ann Manganiello is the music director with Linda  Houck as accompanist while Brenda Grunza and Dr. Thomas Rittenhouse are Co-Presidents. For further information please see www.catholicchoralsociety.org and call 570-587-2753.

     In the more than 40 years it has experienced many high points and accomplishments that have made each member proud. The memories include a performance in historic St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City, and another prior to a televised Mass before Archbishop Terence Cardinal Cook. The choral society also appeared on multiple occasions in the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C.

The Catholic Choral Society will begin its 74th year on Tuesday, September 13th, with rehearsals on Tuesday evenings from 6:15 PM to 8:30 PM at the IHM Center at Marywood University .

     The Choral Society is nondenominational and  composed of members from Luzerne, Lackawanna, Wayne, Susquehanna,Pike and Wyoming counties. The chorus performs sacred, classical, and secular music at performances in Northeastern PA  counties. New members are welcome and no auditions, excepting for voice placement, are required.

 Additional choral programs are scheduled for the Advent, Christmas and Lenten and spring seasons.

 

Director of the Catholic Choral Society is Ann Manganiello, Exeter and the  accompanist  is Jean Shields, Scranton.

     Board members assisting co-presidents Brenda Grunza, Nicholson,  and Dr. Tom Rittenhouse, Clarks Summit  include: Lois Ostrowski, Vice-President; Pittston;  Nancy Flannery, Kingston;  Sheila O’Brien, Dunmore;  Barbara Barrett, Dunmore;  Kate Conaboy, Archbald and Rich Gibbons, Hunlock Creek.
